COMPANY

The construction of the tannery in Ponte a Egola started in 1955, with the “Visible Brick” construction typology like all the other constructions of the place in that period. The beginning of the activity, in the heart of the Tuscan tanning district, dates back to 1958 with the production of “gropponi” (central part of calfskin) with tanning in tanks for sole leather, branded “3 Corone”. The founders of the tannery are Gastone Campinoti and Livio Matteoli.
In 1970, the production cycle changes to the processing of the sides (lateral strip of calfskin) and “chromium tanning” is introduced. In that same year the name of the company is changed to Conceria “Onda Verde”.
In 1975 the widening of the tanning structure began and two years later, in 1977, the production changed again, turning to the processing of the entire calfskin. Tanned hides coming from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Madras, not of excellent quality but very rich if processed with mixed retanning and dabbed with aniline that gave intense transparency for a reasonable period of time, which were abandoned completely in 1989. When the activity of the new structure began, the entire cycle production of hides started, that is, from the hides with hair (raw) to the finished product, therefore, calfskins coming from Switzerland, France, and New Zealand that still are the primary activity of the tannery caused the complete abandonment of Asian hides. The hides processed with the “mixed tanning” method (characteristic of the Tuscan tanning district) become material for the production of top quality bags, footwear, belts, and watch-straps. The long experience achieved in this type of processing, allows the tannery to propose a top quality product, classical but aware of the continuous evolutions that the fashion world imposes.
The meticulous care put in every long tanning processing phase, has always been the main characteristic of the company: it is the only way to offer a top quality product.
Today, Conceria Onda Verde is an important reality in the entire Tuscan tanning district. Over the years, it has invested a lot in the innovation of the production processes, training of its workers, and paying greater and greater attention towards sustainability and ecology.

The current numbers of the company are significant: eighteen workers all highly qualified and a monthly production of 400,000 square feet.
A dynamic and reliable team that fulfils the needs of the end client.
The founder of the tannery and owner of “Onda Verde”, Mr. Gastone Campinoti still manages tannery activity, with his experience achieved over the years passed inside it and today considered an expert of hides.
The tannery has a surface of about 3,500 m2, with its Raw Hide Warehouse, Tanning Department, Crust Warehouse (commonly called “terrazzo”), Finishing Department, and Finished product Warehouse, and Offices.
The tannery takes care of the entire cycle of the hide, therefore, from the raw hide (with hair) to the finished product, together with a finished production starting from Wet Blue (chromium tanning).

The typology of the product is half chrome calfskin with mixed retanning, that is, chromium and vegetable, smooth or tumbled, microprints, crocodile and reptile imitations, and various patterns.

The main markets are Italy, Europe, Asia, and the United States, and it participates in the most important international exhibitions of the sector.
